52 Weeks of Gratitude — A Talent You Have

I don’t know if I would consider it a talent per se, but over the years I have developed a highly honed BS detector of which I’m very proud. I suppose it comes with age and life experience, but even as a child I was never gullible; I figured out that Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy were fake when I noticed they all had the same stylized version of my mother’s handwriting, I figured out the plot twist to Psycho about halfway through, and I have deciphered birthday and Christmas gifts more times than I can count. While it may be annoying to others that I am hard to surprise, it helps keep me from being taken advantage of and in this day and age, you can’t be too careful about your interactions with others. I’m a “what you see is what you get” type of person and I want my relationships with others to be reciprocal. I don’t have the time or energy to waste on phony people and their agendas. I’m thankful I can see through the BS – it makes it easier to stay true to myself and my beliefs.
